What can you build today that will keep helping people centuries from now?

Follow a community service from a first gift to the work of keeping it useful. Distinguish giving, the hadith teaching of continuing charity, and waqf as a varied legal and historical institution—without promising that any project will last forever.

A need that lasts

A neighborhood has a small community kitchen. It serves meals when volunteers and supplies are available, but its storage space is unreliable and the schedule changes from month to month.

One donation could cover a week of groceries. A recurring contribution could help with regular supplies. A longer-term fund might support a more stable service—but would need careful planning and responsible administration.

What would “lasting help” require beyond the first act of generosity?

Reflect

Who would need to be involved to understand what the kitchen actually needs?
